In essence true story of how Spartan King Leonidas led an extremely small army of Greek soldiers (300 of them his personal body guards from Sparta) to hold a Persian invasion army from more than 20 times as large. The real heroism of those who stood (and ultimately died) with Leonidas to shape the course of Western civilization, so that the Greek city-states time to organize an army which repelled the Persians. Set in 480 BC.

In 480 BC, the ambitious, cruel and merciless King Xerxes (David Farrar) of Persia urges Greece, with its huge army to extend its great slave empire. The valiant Spartan army is the great hope that free and unite Greece, Leonidas and Ling (Richard Egan) promises to the Council of the Greek statistics to defend the passage of Thermopylae, the only way by land to reach Athens. However, he has been disappointed by politicians of Sparta and remains alone with his personal body guard army composed of three hundred warriors. Using courage and great knowledge about strategies of war, he defended Thermopylae until a treacherous goatherd told King Xerxes a secret passage leading goat on the back of the army of Leonidas.
The epic "The 300 Spartans" is a great story of courage, heroism and idealism. This story has romance, action and drama, with great interpretation and choreography in the fight scenes. I laughed a lot with the funny line of the old goatherd to Phylon: - "Who can understand the way of the gods? They create beautiful girls and then turn into wives. "The use of red dresses from the Spartan army to hide from the blood of the enemies shows how this war were warriors. My vote is eight.
