Arnie Cunningham is a typical high school nerd, again, overlaid by his parents and has very few friends. Until he meets Christine, a dilapidated 1958 Plymouth Fury and buys them. Arnie learns that Christine has a thing for him and devotes his time to restore its Mint Condition. But overtime, Arnie begins to change and is disconnected with reality and his friends. Arnie's girlfriend Leigh and best friend Dennis find out that the previous owner Christine care about nothing else, when he purchased it and find out that Arnie is always just like him. The only way they can bring Arnie back to reality is to destroy Christine, but Arnie and Christine are ready to destroy first and any other person gets in their way.

Let me just clarify: I do not have the Book, nor do I intend. You will not find comparisons between the book and movie in this review. This movie combines two of the biggest names in horror from two different media; Stephen King is pretty much for his legendary horror written work. John Carpenter is also a fairly well-known names, but as a horror director and not as a writer. After not read the book, I have no idea how Carpenter remained true to the starting material, but I can understand from various sources that he changed a lot, and the changes were very large, so that fans of the book may not like the film . Whenever I hear about a film that is based on a novel King my answer is usually that someone who has no interest in what. When I hear that it is directed by John Carpenter, one of my favorite directors, especially in the horror genre, I develop an interest. Carpenter has a great job of turning something as potentially lame and goofy as a car in possession of something that really scared. I was at the edge of my seat for many of the scenes, and I jumped on a number of shocking moments. The story revolves around a Nerd buying a car, and the car significantly changed his personality. He changed enormously in the whole film, and I must say, the actor has a great offer for Fang from the emotion of the character. The land is large, it does not move along very quickly, but deliberately slow to build up atmosphere, building on a high point is that every bit as exciting as the build-up promises. The acting is great, especially by Keith Gordon, portrays the nerd-like Arnie, buys, the demonic car. The film has pretty much the same sense of humour that Carpenter's films have as a rule, albeit somewhat less available than in several of its other, less serious films. The Special Effects are very good, they are almost impossible to say. If I had not known better, I would have sworn they were real. They could probably more well done had they been done today, but I think it is amazing how real they look. You are looking not the least dated. All in all, it's a good Carpenter film, probably will not be to everyone's taste. I recommend it to fans of Carpenter, and fans of atmospheric horror movies in general. 7 / 10
