This swash-buckling story follows the efforts of Captain Jack Sparrow, a pirate and is adept Turner, a blacksmith resourceful as they search for Elizabeth Swann. Elisabeth, the daughter of the governor and Will's love life, was abducted by the dreaded Captain Barbossa. Little do they know, but the hard and clever Barbossa was cursed. He, along with his large team, are under an ancient curse, condemned for eternity to neither live nor die. That is, unless a blood sacrifice. Full of Edge-of-the-seat action and swashbuckling adventure, this is a movie you do not want to miss!

I am almost fifty years old. A sober grown man. With children. Children, with whom I have now sat through hundreds of films. Many of them I have enjoyed. And I'm not completely hardened in my refinement. The opening music for The Lion King brought tears to my eyes when my kids were but wee tiny tots. But there is after all only children's cinema. In another life, I would never have seen. And really, there is no such films seriously, you can?
And yes, this summer, after the ritual badgering, I dutifully trudged nor in any other Disney "adventure" movie. Named after the tired old ride in Anaheim, I went for the first time in 1965. I mean really, how much can you expect?
And then it happened. The swirling intoxication. The stunned feeling. What? Who? How? Was this a movie? Or a religious experience? Maybe more like an addictive experience ...
I can not remember ever willingly pay to see each film is not the main role of a relative of mine more than doubled, and I can films on one hand. I have now seen "Pirates" four times. The only, what do you see me, it is again the feeling that this whole thing is just getting out of hand. I can not enough of them. It is like walking into a painting, you never want to again. My children ask, with a note of concern in their voice, "Dad, you really like Pirates of the Caribbean very, is not it?"
And fellows that Depp. My God. I never had any idea he was, but his name sounded like something created for a cover-pubescent boys for journals to hook thirteen years old girls in makeup and bad music. Depp was not the names of some hair-goo product back in the 60s?
I'm male. I have many good friends who are gay, but never fantasized about all sexes, but the females. But now I can understand how women can experience swooning crushes on male movie stars. He is simply extraordinary. So clever, so seductive, so canny! I read an interview in which Depp said he went through a slight depression, if he no longer plays Captain Jack Sparrow. I can see why. His inventiveness and the sheer joy of inhabiting the character come through in every frame. How can I admit that my children that I now troll through fan websites on a former teen heart throb?
I often do not see the Academy Awards, and I certainly never have any emotional investment in wins.
Except for this year.
Go Jack.
and, at a time when many big-budget films are little more than a Hodge-podge loosely connected "money shots" this film provides all the pieces together, with a sense of fun and Light leave in special effects that are simply dazzling. I find myself laughing with appreciation dizzy when Barbossa barks, "You would be best faith in Ghost Stories, Miss Turner, you're in one!" And the grinning skeletons come in sight, with Badelt score penetrate time to keep the beat of their maniacal deck-swabbing. And then there is the scene of the pirate Ghouls slithering from the darkened sea on the pier cables Dauntless, as infernal cat stalking its prey.
And now for the music. I can only hear the effete aesthete dismissal this score, as Mr Zimmermann awaits with its winking "overproduced by" credit on the cover-liner. "bombastic". "exaggerated". "fantastic absurd."
Well, perhaps it is for those who spend their lives evaluating such things. For me it is absolutely transported. I Hrte for the first time to do it during a work-out on a rowing machine and found that I tripled my usual distance. It was like mainlining some hazardous tachycardic amphetamine.
once again were the children ask: "What's up with Daddy? Is he OK? "
Maybe I'm just Losing My Grip, with a youthful film get me this way. But if these final credits roll, Captain Jack and narrows his eyes and says: "Well, bring me the horizon. Drink up me hearties, yo ho "and the music swells ... it is difficult to put into words the effect.
At this point, my children have forced me to Yank from the theatre that I still see the credits to the bitter end, and bid good-bye to the little monkey once more, wipe the tears exultation from my eyes.
This is not just another "entry" in the summer blockbust gambling. It is an exquisite work of fantasy and imagination, a true classic, in the order of "The Wizard of Oz". I hope Depp's performance not only garners excellent, but a place in the Pantheon, something we old fogies - and our children gently so fogeying decades - will show that our children and grandchildren as a treasure showed. I can not remember any film, such an effect on me.
